Then several months later, in addition to job hunting, He placed me in a long-distance relationship and called me to move across the country. As a result, I had to set aside Relate Escape for over a year. But guess what? God wasn’t being illogical. His plan is just bigger than mine. Have you ever been in a relationship that took an unexpected turn or suddenly fell apart? I recently moved 2,000 miles to the town where my then boyfriend lived, only for the relationship to end soon after my arrival. This was partly due to the state of the relationship, and partly due to the fact that God specifically told me to back away and leave my man in His hands. On one hand, the breakup felt sudden and unexpected. Plus, how could I end things when my boyfriend was clearly not in a good place? But upon reflection, I realized that God never meant the relationship to be permanent, and that He was protecting my well-being by telling me that my role was finished. Join me as I share more about the relationship and its end; how God called me to step away and why it was so important that I obey Him; and how the relationship played into His overall plans for both me and my ex.

Trusting God’s plan can be difficult - especially when it differs from our own. For example, this past year He called me to get a new job and then move from OH to WA. This required that I temporarily put down my calling. Trusting God’s plan can also be hard when it doesn’t work out the way we anticipate. I moved 2,000 miles assuming God was bringing my boyfriend and I together - only for the relationship to end shortly after I arrived. In situations like these, it can be tempting to feel like God just has it all wrong. But His plan is always bigger. Always better. The key is to stay focused on His character rather than our own limited perspective. Join me as I share more details about the move including the challenges that I faced; the few words God gave me in advance (which wasn’t much!); the little bit He’s shared with me since; and how I’m standing strong even as I’m waiting for God to reveal exactly why I’m here.
